a little perspective
Eli has a talent for noticing small things around the yard. Crickets. Birdsongs. Inchworms. All sorts of things that I often pass over as I scurry around, pulling weeds or moving the sprinkler. Last night he spotted this Robin's egg almost camouflaged in a pile of gravel in the backyard. He wanted to hatch it. So we had a little talk about how fragile life is. And in the end, he found a low dark place to return the egg for some other creature's use. Sometimes, when I stop and look, it strikes me that my small yard and growing children are really wonderfully big and beautiful :)
