Sam helps himself
I was looking through my party pictures again to see if there were any good ones I had missed when I came to this one and thought, "Weird, why did I take a picture of that watermelon?" Then I noticed the feet, the hand, and the head. That's cousin Sam, helping himself to some fruit salad :)

happy anniversary
It’s August and this month we’re celebrating one year free from seizures. It’s been a beautiful year with no episodes that forced us into the hospital, or held us hostage at home, or kept us up all night. It’s been a year free from EEGs, MRIs, blood work, and drug induced mood swings. Instead, this year we biked, ran, skied, swam, and danced fearlessly. Although many of Bernadette’s deficits remain unchanged and we don’t know what tomorrow may bring, it’s hard to imagine living in sadness and anxiety when there is certain joy and peace in every day that’s seizure free.
